Joe founded Clayton Architecture Limited in 2015 with a passion for innovative design and a commitment a high-quality service. With over a decade of experience in the architecture industry, Joe brings a wealth of knowledge in residential, commercial, and listed building projects. His leadership and vision have helped the company grow and created a trusted name within the North West. Joe oversees all projects, ensuring that each one reflects the highest standards of quality and design integrity. 

Stuart Lee 

Part 2 Architectural Assistant

Ba(Hons) / MArch

Stuart has been with Clayton Architecture since 2019 and is currently studying towards his Part 3 qualification, building on his experience and knowledge as he works towards becoming a fully qualified architect. He enjoys being involved in client discussions from the outset, taking the time to understand their ideas, aspirations and requirements to help bring their vision to life. Over the years, Stuart has developed strong working relationships with a number of property developers, built on a clear understanding of their needs and a collaborative approach to design. His approachable nature, keen eye for detail and practical design skills make him a valued member of the team, playing an important role in developing initial concepts into well-considered, functional designs. As he continues his Part 3 studies, Stuart is keen to build on his experience and further develop his skills across all stages of the architectural process.

Joe Cookson 

Architectural Assistant

Joe is an Architectural Technology graduate from Liverpool John Moores University, Joe brings 7 years of post-graduation experience to the industry and is actively working toward becoming a Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT). His career is built on an extensive background in both surveying and technical design, allowing him to bridge the gap between initial creative concepts and structural reality. Specialising primarily in the residential sector, Joe expertly liaises with Building Control, local authorities, and contractors to navigate complex regulations and streamline the construction process. He is driven by a deep passion for delivering precise, high-quality technical design solutions, ensuring that every project from bespoke home extensions to full-scale residential builds are executed to the highest standard.

Paulina Krzyżak

Architectural Assistant

Ba(Hons) / MArch

Paulina is an Architectural Assistant with a background in Interior Architecture and a particular passion for creating thoughtful, timeless spaces. Having recently joined the company, she brings a strong interest in interior design and a keen eye for detail to each project she works on. With a focus on interiors, Pau enjoys creating spaces that feel both considered and timeless, carefully balancing aesthetics with functionality. She is particularly interested in how materials, finishes, colour and detailing can come together to create a cohesive and welcoming environment. Pau also loves seeing a project develop from an initial vision into a completed space, and finds the journey from concept through to completion especially rewarding. She enjoys understanding a client’s ideas and aspirations and translating them into designs that feel personal, practical and built to last. As she continues to develop her experience within the industry, she is excited to grow her skills across both architecture and interiors, while contributing to projects that create meaningful and enduring spaces.

Joanna Clayton  

Director – Office Manager

Joanna is the organisational force behind Clayton Architecture, keeping the team on track and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From managing the day-to-day running of the practice to coordinating workloads and keeping projects organised, she plays a key role in ensuring the team has everything they need to do their best work. A Mathematics graduate, Joanna has swapped equations for spreadsheets, but her love of numbers and problem-solving is as strong as ever! She is happiest with a good tracker, a colour-coded spreadsheet and a well-organised to-do list, always looking for ways to make things run more efficiently. Having gradually transitioned into a full-time role within the practice, Joanna is the go-to person for keeping everyone organised, bringing structure to the busy day-to-day life of the studio and making sure all the moving parts come together.

Arnie Clayton  

Chief Barkitect – Office Dog

As our beloved office dog and “Chief Barkitect,” Arnie brings joy and energy to the office every day. While he may not contribute to the designs directly, his presence is essential for keeping team morale high. Arnie is always ready to greet visitors, provide emotional support, and ensure the office atmosphere is warm and welcoming. His favourite hobbies include chasing tennis balls and napping during design meetings!
