Clayton Architecture was approached on this project when the client wasn’t sure how to get the house they wanted. After meeting the client and surveying their property it was clear that no extensions were required. We evaluated the space and came up with a re configuration of the existing kitchen and dining areas. The final outcome was achieved by removing two loadbearing walls, ripping down the existing ceiling and making the opening for the patio doors much wider. After reinforcing the existing roof timbers we were able to incorporate a bank of sky lights along the full length of the room which now tie in with the new bi fold doors flooding the whole room in natural light. The kitchen was then located to the back of the new space which allows the dining and living to be done in the brightest area with the best views out towards to garden. Overall the space flows much better and provided the family with the home they wanted without the need to extend or move.
